Tips for Making Oral Hygiene More Enjoyable for Kids

Posted .

Oral hygiene is very important, and it’s very important to help children start their oral hygiene routines at an early age. This can help them care for their smiles throughout their lives. If your child has a difficult time cleaning their teeth and gums, our dentists, Dr. Kevin Solis and Dr. Trevor Craig, recommend making their oral hygiene routine a little more fun. You can do so by doing the following things:

-Let your child use fun oral hygiene tools: If your child has a favorite cartoon character or superhero, let them use a toothbrush and toothpaste that have those characters on them! This might help them enjoy brushing because they might feel like they’re hanging out with their fictional friends.

-Make oral hygiene a fun family activity: When it’s time for your child to brush, it’s time for you to brush! Show them how much you love brushing and flossing your teeth. You can even play your favorite two-minute song and dance while you clean your smile!

-Make oral hygiene a game: The more your child brushes, the more bubbles they create in the mouth. See how many bubbles they can make! You can even make brushing and flossing a superhero story. The plaque and bacteria are villains while the toothbrush and floss are the heroes. The heroes fight the bad guys and save the smile!
