A Dental Bridge Can Fill a Large Gap in Your Smile

Posted .

A lost tooth can seriously compromise your smile’s appearance and function. Without timely tooth replacement, you may experience further complications in your bite, including alignment issues. Our dentist might recommend a dental bridge to restore one or more missing teeth in your mouth.

A dental bridge is a tooth replacement appliance made to look like three or more teeth fused together. A dental crown sits on each end with a false tooth or teeth in the middle.

To place the dental bridge, our dentist must form abutments on either side of the gap by removing tooth enamel from the neighboring teeth and creating post-like structures of dentin. We will then create a detailed impression of the abutments and their surrounding teeth and send it to the dental lab to have your new bridge fabricated. We will also cement temporary crowns to each abutment for protection until the permanent bridge is ready.

In a little while, then the bridge is ready, we will call you back to Solis Dental Group for a second appointment, where we will remove the temporary crowns and cement your new bridge into place.

If you have suffered the loss of one or more teeth, call Solis Dental Group at 309-764-4944 to schedule a visit with Dr. Kevin Solis and discuss the benefits of a dental bridge in Moline, Illinois.
